Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Unlike dentures or bridges, a dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over 3–6 months in a process called osseointegration. A custom-made crown is then attached on top, creating a replacement tooth that is virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

At Acer Dental, all implants are placed by experienced clinicians using precision CBCT 3D imaging to plan every case with maximum accuracy and safety. We use high-quality implant systems with documented long-term success rates, and every patient receives a fully personalised treatment plan before any work begins.

Dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care — making them the most cost-effective long-term solution for tooth loss. They also preserve your jawbone, preventing the bone loss and facial sagging that occurs when teeth are missing. Whether you need to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or a full arch, we have a solution for you.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

  • Permanent solution — can last a lifetime with proper care
  • Looks, feels, and functions exactly like a natural tooth
  • Preserves jawbone and prevents bone loss after tooth loss
  • No removal, no adhesives — fixed permanently in place
  • Easy to clean — brush and floss normally
  • Prevents neighbouring teeth from drifting into the gap

How It Works

  1. Consultation & CBCT 3D Scan

We assess your mouth, take a full 3D CBCT scan of your jaw to evaluate bone volume, and create a digital treatment plan. We discuss the timeline, costs, and any bone grafting requirements.

  2. Implant Surgery

Under local anaesthetic, the titanium implant post is placed precisely into the jawbone. The procedure is carefully planned using your 3D scan. Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the procedure is.

  3. Osseointegration (Healing Period)

The implant bonds with your jawbone over 3–6 months. During this time you'll have a temporary crown or denture to maintain appearance and function.

  4. Abutment Placement

Once the implant has fully integrated, a small connector piece (abutment) is attached to the top of the implant. Impressions or a digital scan are taken for your final crown.

  5. Crown Fitting & Completion

Your custom porcelain crown, matched precisely to the colour of your surrounding teeth, is attached to the abutment. We check your bite and make any fine adjustments for a perfect, natural fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the dental implant process take?

From initial consultation to final crown, the full process typically takes 6–12 months. Most of this time is the healing period while the implant integrates with your bone. The surgical appointments themselves are relatively quick.

Does the implant surgery hurt?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic so you should feel no pain during surgery. Most patients report mild discomfort for a few days afterwards, managed effectively with over-the-counter painkillers. Most people are back to normal within a few days.

Am I suitable for dental implants?

Most adults in good general and dental health are suitable. You need sufficient bone density to support the implant — if bone has been lost, a bone graft may be needed first. Smokers have lower success rates and we will discuss this at consultation. Uncontrolled diabetes can also affect healing.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care — regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups — dental implants can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 15–20 years due to normal wear.

What happens if I need bone grafting?

If your jawbone doesn't have sufficient volume to support an implant, a bone graft can be placed first. This adds 3–6 months to the timeline but is a routine procedure that significantly improves long-term implant success.
