Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of dental-grade ceramic, individually crafted to fit over the front surfaces of your teeth. They are one of the most transformative cosmetic dental treatments available, capable of correcting colour, shape, size, length, and minor alignment issues in a matter of weeks.

At Acer Dental, every veneer is custom-designed and hand-crafted by a specialist dental laboratory. We use digital smile design software to plan your new smile in collaboration with you before any preparation takes place. The result is a completely personalised, natural-looking smile that complements your facial features — not an overly bright, artificial look.

Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to staining, meaning your new smile stays bright long-term. With proper care they can last 10–20 years. They are an excellent solution for permanently discoloured teeth that don’t respond to whitening, chipped or worn teeth, gaps between teeth, or teeth that are misshapen or uneven.

Why Choose Porcelain Veneers?

  • Corrects colour, shape, size, and minor alignment in one treatment
  • Highly stain-resistant — your smile stays bright for years
  • Ultra-thin preparation preserves as much natural tooth as possible
  • Completely custom — colour, size, and shape matched to your face
  • Long-lasting — 10–20 years with proper care and maintenance
  • Immediate dramatic transformation that looks completely natural

How It Works

  1. Consultation & Digital Smile Design

We take photographs, digital scans, and use smile design software to show you a preview of your veneers before any work begins. You'll have input into the shade, shape, and size.

  2. Tooth Preparation

A thin layer of enamel (typically 0.5mm) is removed from the front surface of each tooth to create space for the veneer. This is done under local anaesthetic. Temporary veneers are fitted while your permanent ones are made.

  3. Digital Impressions & Lab Fabrication

A precise digital scan or impression is sent to our specialist ceramist, who hand-crafts each veneer to the agreed shape, size, and shade. This typically takes 2–3 weeks.

  4. Try-In & Approval

Before permanent bonding, we place the veneers so you can check the look, feel, and colour in natural light. You can request adjustments at this stage.

  5. Bonding & Final Fitting

Each veneer is permanently bonded to your tooth using a strong dental adhesive and cured with a special light. We make final bite and aesthetic adjustments before polishing your finished smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, porcelain veneers typically last 10–20 years. Avoiding habits like nail-biting and using teeth as tools will extend their lifespan. If a veneer chips or comes loose, it can usually be repaired or replaced.

Is the tooth preparation permanent?

Yes — because a small amount of enamel is removed to accommodate the veneer, the process is irreversible. Your teeth will always need to be covered by veneers or crowns going forward. This is why we take the decision seriously and use digital previews to ensure you're happy before any preparation.

Do veneers stain?

Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to staining — far more so than natural tooth enamel. However, the bonding cement used at the edges can stain over time, and the teeth adjacent to your veneers can yellow, creating a contrast. Regular hygiene appointments are recommended to keep your smile looking its best.

How many veneers will I need?

This depends entirely on your goals. If you're unhappy with the colour of your teeth, whitening may be an alternative. For shape corrections, it can range from 1 veneer for a single chipped tooth to 10 or more for a full smile makeover. We'll make a personal recommendation at your consultation.
